When I switched to the new Yahoo email presentation, the security image I had created no longer appeared. When clicking on "email" the next screen was email and no password was required.

Sounds like some where along the line it has "remembered" you on that computer and is automatically signing you in. Sign out, and also check your instant messenger settings to signout and not auto log in or remember you. Also your IE settings will remember your passwords and log you in if you don't set them off

If you access your email on a website....disable cookies on your browser for that specific website. Should be under options in your web browser. I justed checked firefox and it allows you to do it. (firefox: Tools%26gt;%26gt;Options%26gt;%26gt; Privacy tab%26gt;%26gt; exceptions button) Not sure about Internet explorer 7. Cookies are little files that remember you username and password amoung other things. This is why it doesn't ask for a password each time.
if you only delete your cookies...then you will have to delete them everytime that you go to that site. It is better to just configure your browser to not save them at all for that one site. You will want to keep them enabled for other sites though.

It depends on what email program you are using. If you're using a webmail, you have to clear your cookies; to clear your browser cookies on internet explorer do the following:
tools -%26gt; internet options -%26gt; delete -%26gt; delete cookies

Now if you're using an email client like outlook express or thunderbird, you have to open the properties of your mail account and uncheck the "save password option"

This is a precious email account. I have reported this abuse 3 times to yahoo only to get automated answers. I need a real case worker on this one. I will not allow someone to infringe on my rights and breach my Yahoo security of my account. It is not right and I need to know who can help me track this individual who did this to me? Does anyone have an answer for me? Or is this really a waste of my time? Any help would be appreciated.

Don't tell them your password, and make it something hard that they should not guess, and you are as protect as possible.
Your password should be at least 12 letters long and NOT a real word, a name, or based on your address, phone number, etc. Pick a favorite phrase (such as "I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree") and make the password the first letter of each word (ittisnsapalaat). Nobody will ever guess that, but you can type it by simple saying the phrase in your mind.

It was not taking my current password but due to secret question, birthday and other personal details, I have retrieved my yahoo account and got a new password. But further I have come to know that my email was used by that hacker and sent crap emails( western union money transfer secret question and all crap) to my friends.

IMAP reports it needs my incoming email Password again and again?
I automatically retrieve my email every 15 minute from my imap yahoo account onto my Motorola Q. For a year it worked fine. In the last month or two I get a pop up screen asking for my incoming password. This happens over and over. Most of the time I ignore it and at random times it reterives my email just fine. It's intermitant. I suspect something has changed at Yahoo, HELP!!!

I've tried deleting the Yahoo IMAP account on my phone and then re-creating it and sometimes that works, but then stops working again. In an emergency, you could try that to pull your email off the server, but not a long lasting solution indeed. I find this equally frustrating. If I figure out what's wrong I will re-post (and hope you would do the same). Since we are both having the same issue at least you know it's something not unique to our phones or yahoo accounts.

First scan your computer for key loggers using http://www.microsoft.com/spyware (it's free from Microsoft) and then if your computer is clean (if it is not clean, clean it!)
Then create a hotmail address at http://www.hotmail.com and send yourself an e-mail, make it look legit (say how your day was going...so forth) and see if it vanishes.
