Why would yahoo randomly change my email password?

i dont know what happened. my password was randomly changed. i had to go through a long process to change it something i know. is there a reason yahoo did this?

Why would yahoo randomly change my email password?
Better check for worms and theft programs on your computer. SpyBot is one program that searches for and destroys many such "leaks".

There are others, for other specific problems.

But get a really good antivirus, and add the programs for their spy ware discovery and elimination, and be careful what you sign up for that takes a password.

I have had many problems with Yahoo, but the password has never been one. Or course, I do not allow it to be "remembered" for weeks either. I re-enter it each time.

MicroSoft Hotmail however did allow my Password to be compromised, and refused to let me talk to a real person, just kept wanting me to send an apparent AI ALL my private information. I finally, since I also was not allowed to close the accounts, had to change the PW to a huge random one from hitting the keyboard without looking, and left the account; and that seemed to eliminate the use by the spammers!!

Microsoft has been one of the most uncooperative systems for correcting problems, and the one who demands the most private data to even have an AI talk with you...and the AI's never ever were able to solve anything anyhow. But I would look to spyware, or a virus or mole in your program, or having put your password out somewhere to some of these social network programs that share it all over.

Good luck! And you CAN tell Yahoo all of your troubles, tho their AI's never listen, and they are too big to let a human speak with you.
Reply:Yahoo does not change your password.

Any "legitimate" place you use a password never changes your password without your consent.

Your password is stored in an automatized database that a computer encrypts it and matches the password. No human eyes ever see the passwords unless they are hacked in to or some sort of subpoena requires staff to look that password up.

More than likely someone has hacked in by you putting in your password somewhere else and them cross-referencing your two identities and using the password to your email and then changing it.

I'd suggest changing your secret question to get your password, and changing your password completely.

My best bet is though, that you were probably hacked.
Reply:No it wasn't Yahoo. I bet your other password was too easy and someone who knows your online name guessed it.

Use numbers and words. like 14red58 but easy numbers to remember
Reply:Yahoo didn't change your password because I've had the same account with the same password for five years. It sounds to me like you've been "phished". Someone somehow hacked your account and changed your password. Don't ever login to your account from a link in an email. Always type in the web address in your browser. If you have any other types of accounts, i.e. Ebay, Paypal, Myspace, that used that original password you had, change it now!
Reply:Yahoo does not change your password, randomly or otherwise.
Reply:maybe someone else changed it instead of Yahoo. I do not think Yahoo does this.
Reply:I don't know why but that happened to me too!! A few weeks back I had to go through a whole ordeal just to get my stuff back!!! The man I spoke to said perhaps someone tryed to hack my info. That makes no sense as I have anti-hacker protection! All I know is in the AM all my info worked fine. In the mid-PM I couldn't get into My Yahoo! After the whole mess was finished, I did change my password. It is advised that we change our password to prevent identity theft. I STILL DON"T KNOW WHY OR WHAT HAPPENED!!
Reply:Dude, you've been hacked! It takes your input to change the pass word. I was having the same problem with AOL....3 weeks later they announced that they had an internal leak.
Reply:It IS possible that someone else who knew enough about you changed your password with Yahoo.

I haven't had this happen with Yahoo but know of several instances where this did happen with gmail and with msn.
Reply:they must really like u rery like u
Reply:Yahoo doesn't do that. It sounds like someone hacked into your account and changed it themselves so that you couldn't get back in. Did you tell anyone your password before?
Reply:Maybe it wasn't Yahoo. There are dummy sites out there designed to get you to provide your password. Some sites when you click on them, ask you for your e-mail and your password. These could be "phishing" sites, which is why when I click on a site and they ask for your password, you need to proceed with caution. When a site ask me for my e-mail and my password, I click out and do NOT provide this information, which is why it's called a password. Hope you get this resolved.
